Final Verdict Imminent in Emiliano Sala Case
Sunday 29-03-2026
Nearly seven years after the incident that shook the world of football, the case of the late Argentine player Emiliano Sala enters a decisive phase.

The commercial court in Nantes is scheduled to announce its ruling next Monday regarding the financial dispute between Cardiff City and Nantes clubs over the player transfer deal that was not completed due to the tragic accident.

Sala died in January 2019 when the plane he was on board crashed over the English Channel. He was 28 years old and had just completed his transfer to Cardiff for 17 million euros, but he never played with the new team.

In 2023, Cardiff City Football Club filed legal claims seeking financial compensation for losses related to lost revenue, asserting the responsibility of the parties involved in organizing the private flight that was carrying the player.

On the other hand, the defense of Nantes club emphasized the absence of institutional responsibility on the part of the club, pointing out that the only person prosecuted in Britain was David Henderson, the organizer of the flight, for hiring an unqualified pilot and transporting passengers without official permits. Now, nearly seven years later, justice will issue its final verdict in this case.
