Roman Abramovich considered buying FC Nantes
Former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon revealed that Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, the club's former owner, considered acquiring FC Nantes to turn it into a subsidiary club within his football project.
According to L'Equipe, Abramovich considered FC Nantes as an option before retracting after realizing the club was bigger than the requirements of the project he was planning to implement.
Lulishon reported Abramovich saying: "I believe this club is bigger than what we want for this project."
This revelation raises questions about the path FC Nantes could have taken if the deal had gone through, and whether Roman Abramovich's acquisition would have changed the future of the French club, which has faced sporting challenges in recent years.
