Iranian media reported today, citing the Ministry of Sports, that Iran has decided to ban national sports teams and clubs from traveling to countries it considers hostile, until further notice.

This decision comes as part of official measures to ensure the safety of athletes and to guarantee that they are not exposed to any potential external risks.

The ministry clarified that this decision includes all sports, with a particular focus on football, which sees wide participation at both the continental and international levels. This step comes after a comprehensive assessment of the political and security situation in some countries.

The ministry also emphasized that the Iranian Football Federation and local clubs are required to notify the Asian Football Confederation to ensure that the venues for international matches are adjusted currently and in the future, in accordance with the new decision, to avoid any disruption to the competitions of Iranian teams.
