Mourinho Rejects Temptations and Sticks to Benfica Project for Next Season
Thursday 26-03-2026
Portuguese coach José Mourinho, the manager of Benfica, has clarified his stance on leaving at the end of the current season, confirming his continuation with the club despite the tempting offers he recently received from Saudi league clubs, as well as interest from Newcastle United.

According to the newspaper "O Jogo," Mourinho has already started planning for the new 2026/2027 season, rejecting the idea of leaving the team. He is focused on the goal of rebuilding the team and strongly competing for the Portuguese league title.

The newspaper explained that "The Special One" is fully focused on his project with Benfica, convinced of the necessity to continue for technical stability, especially given the mathematical difficulty of competing for the title this season.

Mourinho has also started shaping the leadership within the team, especially with the names of Nicolas Otamendi and Antonio Silva being linked to potential departures. The coach is looking to prepare alternative leaders in the locker room.

Mourinho is expected to hold a meeting with the club's management in the coming weeks to outline the team's offensive plan and strengthen the squad in preparation for the next season.
