The Madrid Derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid witnessed a new incident that sparked controversy, with Brazilian Vinicius Junior and Atletico coach Diego Simeone as the main figures, during the final minutes of the match which ended with Real Madrid leading 3-2.

The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that the incident occurred in the 87th minute, when Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa decided to substitute Vinicius Junior three minutes before the end of the match. The player left the field calmly, taking the opportunity to motivate the Santiago Bernabeu fans.

The newspaper added that this behavior was not well-received by Simeone, who expressed his strong annoyance and approached the match referee, demanding intervention and a reprimand for the player for his actions while leaving the field.

According to the report, it was unclear whether Vinicius merely motivated the fans or also directed some words towards the Atletico Madrid coach, which heightened the tension between the two parties.

The same source indicated that this incident comes in the context of a series of previous tensions between Vinicius and Simeone, as a previous Spanish Super Cup match witnessed an altercation between them, after cameras captured Simeone directing a phrase to the Brazilian player, saying: 'Florentino will fire you, remember that later.'

The report confirmed that Simeone later apologized for those statements during a press conference held in Madrid, where he refused to comment on the incident directly after the match, before offering his apology days later.
