The Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido, former head coach of Al Ahly club, revealed the behind-the-scenes of his experience with the team, confirming that he did not fully grasp the true size and value of the club until after his tenure ended.

Garrido explained, in statements to the "Offsiders" podcast, that he received several calls to take over coaching Al-Ahly after his experience with Real Betis, noting that he initially rejected the offer multiple times before finally agreeing after a suitable offer was made.

He pointed out that his experience in Egypt was exceptional on both professional and personal levels, emphasizing that the environment there was suitable for his family and that his children experienced one of the best periods of their lives during their stay in Cairo.

The Spanish coach added that Al Ahly is considered a major entity, comparing it to Real Madrid on the African continent, due to its history and constant ambition to win championships.

He continued by saying that the pressures within the club are immense, given the constant expectations to win all matches. He explained that the fans play a pivotal role, as they surround the team everywhere and create an exceptional atmosphere.

Garrido also recalled the memories of winning the CAF Confederation Cup, noting the large crowd attendance in the final match, describing the atmosphere as historic.

He concluded by emphasizing that the moment of scoring the winning goal in the dying minutes and celebrating with his family on the field will remain one of the most memorable moments in his coaching career.
