Laporta Opens Door for Rashford's Stay, But in a New Format
Friday 13-03-2026
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, hinted at the possibility of English forward Marcus Rashford continuing with the team next season, but through a different option than activating the final purchase clause from Manchester United.

Laporta explained that the Catalan club is considering the possibility of extending the player's loan instead of paying the full purchase option this summer.

Barcelona has the option to buy Rashford for around 30 million euros after the end of his current loan period. However, the club's management is considering more financially flexible alternatives, especially given the economic constraints the club faces in the transfer market.

In recent statements, Laporta confirmed that the club is satisfied with the English player's performance, but noted that the final decision has not yet been made. He added that one of the options on the table is to extend the loan for an additional season or to agree with Manchester United on a different payment structure for the deal's value.

Rashford, aged 28, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2025 on loan from Manchester United, with an option for a permanent purchase at the end of the season.
