Kompany: I Don't Want to Talk Much About Injuries, We Delivered the Performance We Aspire To
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany appeared in a press conference following the 6-1 victory over Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, at the New Balance Arena.
The coach said in his speech: "We delivered the performance we aspired to, and I even believe we could have scored one or two more goals. Throughout the match, we were very dangerous offensively, and there was excellent harmony between receiving the ball and advancing in attack, which caused significant problems for the opposing team today."
He added, "Our team possesses talent and quality, and while it's easy to talk about plans, Atalanta's players have their own strategies as well. However, our players have the ability to handle individual confrontations. The intensive training we conduct allows them to quickly find solutions against tough defenders, and they did so brilliantly today."
Regarding the injuries: "I don't want to talk too much about the injuries so as not to lose the current momentum. Harry Kane didn't play today, and Jackson played instead, which is unfortunate, of course, but I have confidence in all the players. Davies' injury doesn't seem serious, and we might lose him for a few matches, but the team is capable of handling that."
Regarding Jamal Musiala's injury: "I don't think there's anything to worry about; injuries are a natural part of football. I always observe the players' body language after matches, and Musiala's body language was positive. We just need to be patient, and over time we will understand the situation more accurately."
He concluded about Harry Kane not participating: "He was very close to playing, but after we went up 5-0, his participation became very unlikely (smiles)."
