CAF Raises Champions League and Confederation Cup Prizes to Record Numbers
The African Football Confederation announced an increase in the financial prizes for the club tournaments, with the prize for the African Champions League winner now amounting to 6 million US dollars, while the prize for the African Confederation Cup winner has risen to 4 million dollars.
In an official statement released on Monday, the African Confederation stated that its president, Patrice Motsepe, announced an additional increase of 2 million dollars for the African Champions League winner, along with a similar increase of 2 million dollars for the Confederation Cup winner starting from the 2025-2026 season.
According to the statement, the increase in the African Champions League prizes reached about 50 percent, while the increase in the Confederation Cup prizes reached 100 percent.
The African Football Confederation pointed out that these increases will raise the total financial prizes and solidarity payments allocated to African clubs to more than 42 million dollars per season.
The Confederation noted in its statement that the financial prizes have seen a significant rise over the past five years, with the prize for the African Champions League winner increasing from 2.5 million dollars to 6 million dollars, a 140% increase, while the prize for the Confederation Cup winner rose from 1.25 million dollars to 4 million dollars, a 220% increase.
The first and second legs of the African Champions League final are scheduled to take place on May 15 and 24, while the Confederation Cup final matches will be played on May 9 and 16.
