Kompany: We Will Definitely Attack Dortmund, and I Don't Care About the Champions League Draw
Belgian Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, confirmed that his full focus is on facing Borussia Dortmund in the top-tier German league competition, emphasizing that his team is not currently concerned with any issues related to the Champions League draw.
Kompany said during the pre-match press conference: "I expect Borussia Dortmund to press hard and play with an open and enthusiastic attacking style. They can do that; they are capable of giving their best effort. I don't know if it will make a difference tomorrow, but we know our priorities. We will face a strong team, and the match will not be easy for us."
He added: "As for us, the matter is clear, we will definitely attack, that's what I assure you. Everything else depends on the opponent, whether they play more defensively or attack fiercely, we know our priorities then."
Regarding the physical condition of some of his players, Kompany explained: "Manuel Neuer seems to be in good condition. We thought he would be out for a longer period, but he might participate in today's training, and we will see how ready he is before the match."
He continued: "If he is not ready, we will rely on Jonas Urbig, who shines whenever he replaces him. Laimer trained throughout the week, and Fonzie resumed running; he is also in good condition and will be ready for the important matches awaiting us in March."
Regarding the Champions League draw: he said, "I am the worst person you can ask this question to; I don't care about it at all. When it's not in my hands, we will deal with it, whatever the result. All that matters to me now is tomorrow's match against Dortmund."
He concluded his statements by emphasizing the importance of the encounter: "It is a very important match, and we must give big matches like this one the importance they deserve. It's important for the match to appear in the best possible way, and there must be a strong desire to win from both teams."
