The Argentine Marcelo Gallardo, one of the most successful coaches in the history of River Plate, announced that he will be leaving his position as the team's coach after a series of negative results this season.

Gallardo's decision came after the team's 0-1 loss to Vélez Sarsfield, which increased the pressure following 12 defeats in the last 20 matches, prompting him to end his second term as the team's coach, which began in August 2024.

Gallardo announced in an emotional video released through the club's official accounts that he will lead the team for the last time this Thursday against Banfield at the "Monumental" stadium, explaining that he is "overwhelmed with pain and emotion" for failing to achieve the expected goals during this period.

It is worth noting that this second term for Gallardo did not see any titles, unlike his first period between 2014 and 2022, which witnessed significant successes both locally and continentally.
