Officially: UEFA Announces Suspension of Prestiani
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) officially announced the suspension of Benfica's player Gianluca Prestiani following his insult to Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior.
The Argentine star had directed racist remarks towards the Brazilian star during the first leg of the playoff qualifying for the Champions League round of 16, at the 'Da Luz' stadium.
UEFA stated in its announcement that the Argentine player has been suspended 'temporarily' pending the completion of investigations, and thus the player will miss the return match on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Prestiani faces severe penalties that may include a suspension for up to 10 matches in addition to a financial fine.
