Napoli's Anger at Refereeing in Atalanta Match
Giovanni Manna, the sporting director of Napoli, expressed his intense anger after his team's goal was disallowed in their match against Atalanta, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the latter in the Italian league. He described the decision as ridiculous and embarrassing.
Mana said: "It is impossible to comment on this decision. A goal was canceled after play resumed without any clear violation, and the video technology was not used, which is very embarrassing."
He continued: "The referee awarded a penalty in favor of Isak Hien after his clash with Rasmus Højlund, but the decision was overturned after a video review, while the referee did not intervene when Højlund was lightly fouled by Hien, which later led to a goal."
He added: "If there was contact on the penalty and it was canceled, why didn't the video technology intervene in the second instance? We always try to remain calm, but this incident is unacceptable and embarrassing."
He explained: "All we want is justice and what is rightfully ours, but this is not fair, nor is it real football. These decisions affect our competition for Champions League spots, as we are now only five points ahead of Atalanta and Como."
