Brestiani's Agent Denies Admitting to Insulting Vinicius
Saturday 21-02-2026
Gaston Fernandez, the agent of Argentine Gianluca Brestiani, denied the accuracy of reports regarding his client's alleged confession to UEFA of directing offensive remarks to Vinicius Junior during the Benfica vs. Real Madrid match in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 playoffs at the Estádio da Luz.

Previous reports, cited by ESPN, suggested that Brestiani admitted to making a sexually oriented insult to Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, confirming that the incident did not carry a racist nature as initially rumored.

The reports claimed that the Argentine player confessed during his interrogation by UEFA that he called Vinicius a 'sissy' and not a 'monkey.'

However, the player's agent emphasized in his statements that no official confession was made by his client to the continental union, considering that what is being circulated does not reflect the reality of what happened, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.

According to UEFA's disciplinary regulations, any discriminatory abuse, whether racial or based on sexual orientation, could result in penalties up to a 10-match suspension along with a financial fine.
