Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior issued an official statement through his official account on the "Instagram" platform, following the racist incident he faced against Benfica by the Portuguese team's player Gianluca Prestianni.

Vinicius said: "Racists are cowards above all... They pretend to be weak and helpless, but they are protected by others who, theoretically, are obligated to punish them."

He added, "What happened today is not new in my life or in the life of my team."

He continued: "I received a yellow card for celebrating a goal. I still don't understand why. On the other hand, it was just a misapplication of the protocol and served no purpose."

He concluded: "I don't like appearing in such situations, especially after a big win and at a time when Real Madrid's news should be making the headlines, but this is necessary."
