Bayern Munich Talent Becomes Available to Represent Iraq!
In a long-awaited step, the young player Youssef Nasrawi has officially become available to represent the Iraqi national teams, starting from yesterday, Monday, after completing all the procedures related to issuing his Iraqi passport, thus closing an important file within the union's efforts to enhance the national teams with professional talents in Europe.
The Iraqi Football Association confirmed in an official statement that all transactions related to issuing the passport have been fully completed, with the passport being issued today, allowing the player to join the list of professionals eligible to represent the Iraqi national team in upcoming engagements.
The association explained that completing Nasrawi's procedures is part of a strategic plan aimed at supporting the national teams with young talents active in European leagues, enhancing the technical options available to the coaching staff, especially in the attacking midfield position (playmaker), which is one of the vital positions in any team's lineup.
Nasrawi is 19 years old and was active in the ranks of Bayern Munich's reserve team before moving during the current winter transfer period to the Austrian team SV Ried on loan, with an option to purchase at the end of the 2025-2026 season, in a move aimed at giving him more playing time and an opportunity to prove his abilities at the level of official competitions.
In the same context, sources revealed that the player has become sought after by all Iraqi national team coaches, as he was requested by the national team coach Graham Arnold, alongside Olympic team coach Imad Mohammed, and youth team coach Ahmed Salah, with a final decision on which team he will represent expected to be made in the near future.
The sources added that Nasrawi is very excited to embark on his experience with the Lions of Mesopotamia, having made his decision with full conviction, following the significant efforts made by the Iraqi Football Association President Adnan Darjal and the union members to persuade him to represent his home country, in a move expected to add significant value to Iraqi football in the coming phase.
The player had previously represented Germany's under-16 and under-17 teams, playing 7 international matches, before deciding to commit to Iraq, with the aim of participating in the crucial playoffs qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Since 2015, Nasrawi began his journey in the world of professionalism, transitioning from the ranks of the German team Meppertch to Bayern Munich's academy, where he progressed through various age groups of the Bavarian club, gaining valuable experience in one of Europe's strongest football schools.
The player chose to embark on a new experience in the Austrian league, confirming in previous statements his desire to play as many matches as possible, noting that the league there provides opportunities for young talents and helps emerging players develop quickly.
With Youssef Nasrawi officially joining the list of players eligible to represent Iraq, a new chapter opens in his career, amidst public hopes that he will be one of the names capable of making a difference in future engagements.
