Enrique: I am committed to my philosophy, and this is what I hope for against Monaco
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique appeared at a press conference to discuss tomorrow's match against Monaco in the first leg of the playoff qualifying for the UEFA Champions League round of 16, at the "Louis II" stadium.
The coach said in his talk: "Something always happens during your matches in Monaco. Do you wish for a quieter evening this Tuesday? I don't know (laughs). We'll see. Maybe we can play without a goalkeeper (laughs)."
Regarding the strength of both teams on the flanks, with Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi in Paris, and Vanderson and Caio Henrique in Monaco, he said: "We cannot only talk about the flanks, because we are facing two very good teams with many quality players. We can expect a match similar to the one we played a month ago (a 0-1 loss). We will not change anything, because we will try to win this match."
He added regarding the recent loss to Rennes: "Around Paris Saint-Germain, there is always noise, and we must accept that. This loss was tough because if we look at the chances we created, it was similar to what we did against Marseille. We scored five goals against Marseille and only one against Rennes. This is the professional analysis the coach conducts. We are accustomed to overcoming such situations. We would have preferred to arrive with a victory, true, but the Champions League is coming, and we will face the same opponent home and away, and we are excited."
Regarding Ousmane Dembélé's statements after the loss against Rennes, where he emphasized the necessity for players to play for the team and not for themselves: "As I said after the match, his talk is not important. What I said was very clear. Around Paris Saint-Germain, there is always noise. We are used to it."
Regarding facing a French team at this stage, he explained: "It's football, it's always the same. We must try to do the same things to win the match. What I hope for is to see the best version of Paris Saint-Germain. In recent seasons, we lost the first leg and then turned things around in the second leg. We won't change anything in our mindset."
He concluded his remarks by reaffirming his commitment to his philosophy: "I am committed to my nature. This was evident last season. We started the Champions League with the same issue of effectiveness, but when you look at the number of opportunities, it means you were superior to your opponent, and that's what we are looking for. I am confident that we can regain that quickly, and that is our goal."
