Karim Benzema's transfer to Al-Hilal caused a financial surprise, as the French player waived his remaining dues with Al-Ittihad to facilitate the completion of the winter deal.

Al Hilal announced its signing of the French star for a season and a half, following the official termination of his contract with Al Ittihad during the recently concluded winter transfer window.

Benzema's decision to terminate the contract came after entering the free period and rejecting the renewal offer, which included canceling the fixed salary in exchange for relying solely on image rights revenues, considering that the offer did not reflect his artistic value.

The media personality Khaled Al-Shenaif revealed on the program "Our League is Different" that the player waived the salaries for the last six months of his contract with Al-Ittihad to terminate the contractual relationship.

He explained that Al Hilal will bear the amount that Benzema gave up, noting that his previous salary ranged between 50 and 60 million riyals annually.

The same source confirmed that the new contract with Al-Hilal is of lesser value than what he was earning with Al-Ittihad, and that the deal was fully funded by the club's resources without resorting to the recruitment program.
