The Royal Army Coach: The Match Was Tough and I Congratulate Both Teams on Qualifying
Alexander Santos, the coach of the Royal Army, confirmed that his team's match against Al-Ahly was difficult, noting that it is very good for his team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the second consecutive time.
Al Ahly drew 0-0 with AS FAR on Sunday evening in the sixth and final round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, allowing both teams to advance to the quarter-finals.
Santos said in the press conference following the match: "It's a big deal for us to qualify for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League for the second consecutive time. This might be usual for Al Ahly, and I congratulate both teams on qualifying."
He added: "The match was very difficult for us, the number of spectators present was very large, but I thank our few fans who attended the match and they will return happy to Rabat."
He continued: "We are almost the only team that comes to Cairo Stadium without conceding goals, and our journey in the group stage was extremely difficult. If we look at the group standings, we will understand how challenging it was."
He also said: "The group stage is considered a mini-tournament. In the first match against Young Africans, we suffered an unfair defeat, but all the players were confident in qualifying for the quarter-finals. Al Ahly and the Royal Army are the two teams most deserving of advancing from the group."
