CS Sfaxien Threatens to Withdraw from Tunisian League
The Sfaxien Club hinted at an escalatory move that could lead to withdrawing from the Tunisian league competition, following the refereeing incidents that occurred during their match against Club Africain, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The club's management requested the Tunisian Football Federation to provide the complete recordings of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for the match, emphasizing the need to obtain all footage without deletion or selection, including various camera angles and all audio conversations that took place between the on-field referee and the video referees.
The Sfaxien management confirmed that if this request is not met within a reasonable timeframe, they will be compelled to suspend their participation in the league to protect the club's rights and ensure the principle of equal opportunities among all teams.
This stance comes following the decision by the arbitration committee in Tunisia to suspend referees Haitham Qirat and Osama Shreit, due to counting a goal for Club Africain as a draw, despite an offside situation preceding the goal, as shown in the circulated video footage.
