Liverpool Loses to Manchester City, Coach Reacts Positively
Liverpool coach Arne Slot appeared in a press statement following the 2-1 loss against Manchester City in the 25th round of the English Premier League, at Anfield.
The coach said in his statement: "A lot of things happened, which is natural in such matches. We are disappointed to come away empty-handed."
He added: "In the first half, Manchester City was the better team. They didn't create many dangerous chances, but they had more possession in our half. In the second half, we were the better team, created good moments, went ahead 1-0, and didn't give them any notable opportunities."
He added: "Shortly before the end of the match, a deflected cross fell in their favor, making the score 1-1. We tried to stop them, but they won the first header (through Haaland). Bernardo Silva's anticipation was excellent, and his finish was superb."
He emphasized, "We have almost gotten used to conceding a goal in extra time, and it happened again today."
Regarding the red card received by Szoboszlai: "This isn't the incident we should be discussing. Perhaps he should have left it as a goal, but if that's the rule, we have to accept it."
He added, "If there is any incident worth talking about, it is when Mohamed Salah was one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Anyone who has visited this stadium in the past seven or eight years knows that this is a goal for Salah. Once again, the referee did not make the right decision. They need to do their job."
He concluded: "We can look at this match positively. In the second half, we pressed hard and played good football. This match cannot be compared to what happened three or four months ago, as we have improved a lot - but we need to improve the results. Many times this year, we didn't get what I believe we deserved, and this is one of those times."
