Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly star, responded to the recent statements made by Saleh Gomaa, the former red team player, in which he asserted that Ashour feels unfairly treated at the club and desires better financial and moral recognition.

Imam Ashour said on Instagram: "What was said on the programs in my name or attributed to me did not happen at all, and I am not responsible for it. None of what was rumored came from me."

He added: "Everything that has been said is untrue, and the interview itself never even took place. With all due respect to everyone, my entire focus is solely on my training and work, and the interests of my team are more important than all these matters. Thank you."

Imam Ashour did not travel with the Al-Ahly delegation to Tanzania to face Young Africans in the CAF Champions League.

The Red Club fined the player one and a half million pounds and suspended him for two weeks.
