Reasons for Nunez's Absence from the Al-Hilal and Al-Okhdood Match
Wednesday 04-02-2026
The Italian coach of Al-Hilal, Simone Inzaghi, excluded Uruguayan Darwin Núñez from the team's squad for the match against Al-Okhdood tomorrow as part of the 21st round of the Saudi Professional League.

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Youm" reported that the reason for the exclusion is due to Nunez's absence from the team's group training sessions in recent days, which affected his technical readiness.

Núñez is engaged in intensive negotiations to transfer to Turkish club Fenerbahçe, amid the player's clear desire to leave following Al Hilal's recent signing of French player Karim Benzema.

The newspaper "Okaz" revealed that Núñez threatened the Al-Hilal management with retirement if the club refused to allow him to transfer, due to his anger over the team's reinforcement with Benzema.

It is noted that Núñez joined Al-Hilal last summer from Liverpool for 53 million euros, with a contract extending for three years, but he is currently experiencing a clear phase of tension with the management.

Al-Hilal tops the Saudi Roshn League standings with 47 points, leading by one point over Al-Nassr, the runner-up. The team aims to maintain the lead without Nunez against Al-Okhdood.
