Esperance Sportive de Tunis achieved its first victory in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, after defeating its guest Simba from Tanzania with a score of 1-0, in the match that brought them together for the third round of the continental competition.

The only goal of the match was scored by player Jack Diarra in the 21st minute, granting the Bab Souika team three valuable points, which came after two previous draws against Stade Malien and Petro Atletico of Angola.

Despite the importance of the victory in terms of the result, Esperance did not present a convincing technical level, as Simba imposed its control for long periods of the confrontation and succeeded in reaching Esperance's areas on more than one occasion, revealing some points that need correction within the team's defensive and organizational system.

Coach Maher Kanzari will be required to review many technical aspects, especially before playing the return matches, where Esperance awaits difficult trips to both Tanzania and Mali, in addition to hosting Petro Atletico.

With this victory, Esperance Sportive temporarily topped Group D with five points, awaiting the result of the anticipated confrontation between Stade Malien and Petro Atletico, scheduled for tomorrow, which will determine the final standings of the round.
