Msakni Officially Returns to Espérance
International Tunisian star Youssef Msakni, nicknamed "The Mole," officially completed the procedures for his return to his original team, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, on the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2025, after an absence of 12 years spent playing in Gulf leagues.
Msakni (35 years old) signed a contract lasting one and a half seasons, until the summer of 2027, in a free transfer following the end of his stint with the Qatari club Al-Arabi.
The return of the veteran playmaker comes to meet the team's technical needs and strengthen its ranks before entering a crucial phase of local and continental competitions.
Msakni is expected to participate in group training sessions in the coming days and will be available for the coach to rely on in upcoming competitions.
This return brings Msakni back to the Tunisian champion, where he shone between 2008 and 2013. He was one of the key pillars who led the team to win the CAF Champions League title in 2011, along with four consecutive Tunisian league titles.
The main goal behind this deal remains to leverage Msakni's extensive international experience to lead the attack and contribute to winning more titles for the "Bab Souika" team.
