Bale explains the reason behind Alonso's failure at Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale revealed the reason behind Xabi Alonso's failure as Real Madrid's coach, following the club's decision to part ways with the manager by mutual consent after only nine months in charge.
Bale said in his speech: "Xabi Alonso is a great coach. Look at what he achieved with Bayer Leverkusen—he won titles, and Leverkusen performed excellently. But when you get to Real Madrid, you don’t just need to be a coach; you need to be a technical director. You have to manage the players' egos in the locker room."
He concluded: "He has to manage the players' egos; all these tactics are unnecessary. In the locker room, there are stars capable of changing the course of matches in the blink of an eye. So, yes, it can be said that he is a great tactical coach, but at Real Madrid, it is clear that this did not work."
Real Madrid parted ways with Alonso following the loss of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona, at a time when the Basque coach had clashed with some of the team's stars, including Vinicius, Bellingham, and Valverde.
It is worth mentioning that Álvaro Arbeloa is currently coaching Real Madrid.
