The Truth About El-Shenawy's Exclusion from Egypt's World Cup Squad

Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egyptian national team, revealed the truth about the exclusion of Mohamed El-Shenawy, the goalkeeper for Al Ahly and the national team, from the Pharaohs' squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Ibrahim Hassan said on the program "Stad Al-Mahwar": "All of that talk is not true. We have just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations and have not discussed any matters related to the upcoming phase."

He added: "The talk going around about an agreement between us in the technical staff and Captain Hossam Hassan to exclude Mohamed El-Shenawy and any player over the age of 30, except for Mohamed Salah and Trezeguet, from the national team squad for the World Cup is not true."

The 2026 World Cup will kick off on June 11, 2026, and will continue until July 19, 2026.

The Egyptian national team is placed in Group G, alongside the teams of Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
