Saloot: Salah's Return Strengthens Liverpool, and We Are Ready to Face Marseille
Tuesday 20-01-2026
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp revealed the importance of Mohamed Salah's return to the team after the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, emphasizing that his presence strengthens the team's attacking capabilities.

During the press conference before the match against Marseille in the Champions League, Klopp said: "I didn't play Mohamed Salah against Inter Milan, but he was present in all the matches and participated in the Brighton game, which we won 2-0, so he left in a good condition for himself."

He continued: "I spoke with Salah today, and I am happy about his return. I have only played more than 100 minutes in the Premier League with two wingers, Salah and Cody Gakpo. So, his return is beneficial because, in his absence, we created chances but didn't capitalize on them."

Saloot added: "I saw today that Salah has scored 45 goals in the Champions League, followed by Virgil van Dijk with only five goals less. It's good to have him back, and if he can regain his usual form, that's what he will show tomorrow."

The Liverpool coach continued: "I am happy about Salah's return. In his absence, we performed well in terms of limiting the chances available to the opponents, which allowed us to create more opportunities. So, it's beneficial to have a player like Salah who is capable of scoring goals."

He explained: "I don't think I can involve Ian Rush right now, but the many opportunities we had against Burnley, with Salah on the field, usually mean scoring more goals."

Slut concluded by saying: "I have answered this question before. At one moment, I decided not to include Salah, and at another, I decided not to take him to the match. Every other time, I played him, and that was never a problem for me. This is the first time he has been able to rejoin the team, so let's see the lineup tomorrow if you still think there is an issue."
