Rossiniour: Illness Affected Preparations, But Players Fought to Win the Match
Liam Rossiniour, Chelsea's head coach, admitted that his team did not show their best level in terms of fluid play during the match against Brentford, but he praised his players' effort which contributed to achieving the 2-0 victory.
Rossiniour explained that illness affected his preparations for the match and the performance of some players, but he emphasized the importance of winning regardless of the circumstances.
Rossiniour said: "The most important thing is the win, this is what I have been stressing since I joined the team."
He continued: "What pleased me the most, which is reflected in the two goals, is the players' desire to fight, face challenges, block shots, win aerial duels, and make interventions. This is the reason we kept a clean sheet. In fact, this effort is what gave us the two goals."
He added: "We did not deliver the fluid play I ultimately want, but we got the job done, and this is a very satisfactory result for the players. Several players today complained of chest problems, yet they gave a great effort. I think this is the reason we were not outstanding with the ball."
He continued: "Honestly, I take it day by day. For example, on the night of the Arsenal match, Liam Delap was sick, and later yesterday we discovered that Estefao was suffering from a high fever and chills. We have to be very flexible and adjust the way we work."
