Chievo Verona announced the signing of Brazilian star Douglas Costa (35 years old) on a contract lasting until the end of the current season, to strengthen the squad competing in the Italian fourth division. This surprising move brings one of the shining names back to Italian football.

Costa joined on a free transfer after leaving the Australian club Sydney FC, making him available on the transfer market without a fee. He chose to embark on a new experience in Italy in search of consistent playing time and to regain some of his former brilliance on the pitch.

The Brazilian winger has had a distinguished football career, beginning his professional journey with Brazilian club Grêmio before rising to prominence in Europe with Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, where he delivered impressive performances that caught the attention of the continent's top teams.

Afterwards, Costa moved to top-tier clubs, most notably Germany's Bayern Munich, followed by Italy's Juventus, where he experienced memorable periods.
