Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal appeared in a press statement following their elimination from the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, after losing 3-2 to the visiting Albacete in the match held at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium.

The Spanish defender said: "We have hit rock bottom in a shocking way. We must also take responsibility when we lose, and that is what is required now. The ones most responsible for what happened are us, the players. There isn’t much more I can say beyond that."

He added: "What were you missing? If I had known that, we wouldn't have lost. It doesn't take much intelligence to understand what happened. We hit rock bottom, and we were eliminated by a second-tier team. Congratulations to them. Starting tomorrow, we need to engage in self-criticism. We have two great championships ahead, and we will fight for everything."

He emphasized: "The message is clear: the team is not in its best condition right now, and that is understandable. We need to work harder, and we must give much more than we have so far. That is the truth. The message is to move forward and fight until the end."

He concluded: "We apologize to our fans. We are not, myself foremost among us, up to the expectations of this club, and we will do our utmost in the coming months to correct the situation and turn things in our favor."
