Kiev: Focus and Balance Are the Foundation of Victory, and This Is the Team’s Status
Sunday 11-01-2026
In preparation for tomorrow's match against Napoli in the 20th round of the Italian league, Christian Kiev, the head coach of Inter Milan, emphasized the importance of focus and balance to achieve a positive result in this challenging game.

Kiev said: "Through hard work alone, we tried to maintain continuity in what has been achieved or attempted to be implemented, with faith and ambition. Numbers alone are not enough; we must prove our worth during the 90-100 minutes of the match."

He continued: "Only a short time has passed, but Napoli has changed their system and players. They remain a strong, intense, and high-quality team. It will be a tough match for both sides, relying on details and decisive moments. When two teams of this level face each other, focus and precision are essential."

He added: "We are ahead by four points, but it depends on whom you ask. We want to reach +7, while they want to get closer to -1. However, between words and actions, there is commitment, focus, and balance. Nothing is certain; the only certainty is that we have always worked well and are ready for a big match, fully aware that it could determine the course of the season."

He continued: "I have great respect for Conte as a coach; he is a big winner and has developed a lot. We young coaches have much to learn from him. But there is no direct comparison between Kiev and Conte; there is a difference, and players as well. Football should remain for the players and the fans. The coach has an impact, but he should not be the center of everything."

He added: "I did not see any fear in my players. This team has matured and understood that something must always be added, not taken away. When things are done correctly, self-confidence and self-respect increase, and the chances of winning grow."

Kiev concluded his talk about his players by saying: "Luis Henrique has improved a lot tactically; he worked humbly, listened, and learned. Today, he plays regularly and provides great support to the team. Darmian is still recovering, and Dumfries will begin rehabilitation at the end of the month. We hope they both return soon. We are focused on performance, not making excuses, and if we lose, we will lose on our own terms."
