Friday 09-01-2026
The Algerian national team secured its qualification to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations following its victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo, in a match that confirmed its continued strong presence in the continental tournament.

The positive results achieved by the Algerian team in the Africa Cup of Nations so far have not only had a technical impact, but have also reflected on its global ranking, as it added 14.9 points to its score in the FIFA World Rankings.

Thanks to this gain, the Algerian team advanced in the global rankings, surpassing teams such as Canada, Ukraine, and Norway, rising to the 27th position worldwide, marking a jump of seven places since the start of the tournament currently held in Morocco.

It is worth noting that the FIFA ranking system awards points for wins in knockout stages, while no points are deducted for losses, which explains the noticeable increase in the Algerian team's points as its journey in the tournament continues.
