New Offer Brings Upamecano Closer to Renewing His Contract with Bayern Munich
Thursday 08-01-2026
A report by the German newspaper Bild revealed that Bayern Munich is close to extending the contract of French defender Dayot Upamecano, 27 years old, after negotiations that lasted several months.

According to the source, the club and the player have reached an agreement on most of the disputed points, including personal bonuses and the release clause, with only final details remaining before the official announcement of the extension.

Upamecano is expected to sign his new contract during January, with a salary estimated to reach up to 20 million euros annually, following strong competition from major clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The club's CEO confirmed, saying: "Upamecano has an offer from the club which we have recently improved, and the offer has been discussed several times with his agents and now also directly with him. I believe that what he has now should be signed because he will not get a better offer. We have made him an excellent offer because he has performed wonderfully during the past year and a half. He is definitely one of the best defenders in the world."

For his part, Upamecano spoke about his future with the team: "I don’t feel any pressure. I am talking with Max and Christoph, and everything is fine. The relationship with everyone is good. I hope we find a solution soon, but I don’t have a deadline. I am very happy to play for this great club and I focus on my performance on the field, and I will leave the rest to my agent."

This development came after Upamecano’s outstanding performance in the friendly match where Bayern Munich won 5-0 against Red Bull Salzburg, which helped bring the two sides closer and reach a near-final agreement on renewing the contract.
