Trezeguet's Position on Participating in the Africa Cup of Nations Quarter-Final
The Egyptian national team revealed Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet's status regarding participating in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final match.
The Egyptian national team defeated the Benin national team 3-1 yesterday, Monday, in the round of 16 of the tournament, advancing the Pharaohs to the quarterfinals.
During the match, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet suffered an ankle ligament tear.
Hamada El Sherbini, head of the Pharaohs' delegation at the Africa Cup of Nations, revealed in a television interview: "The Egyptian team made it difficult for themselves against Benin, but the players succeeded in securing the win and qualifying."
Regarding Trezeguet's condition, he said: "It will be difficult for Trezeguet to participate in the quarter-final match after suffering a tear in his ankle tendons."
He concluded: "But we hope he will be ready because he is an important player, and this matter will be decided within 48 hours."
