The Algerian national team qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a hard-fought victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in a marathon match held this Tuesday evening at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, as part of the round of 16.

The regular time of the match ended in a goalless draw (0-0), over two halves dominated by defensive caution from both sides, with limited attacking attempts that did not result in any goals.

During the extra time periods, the pace of the game increased and both teams exchanged chances, before Adel Boulbina managed to snatch a decisive goal in the 119th minute, granting the “Desert Foxes” the ticket to advance to the next round.

With this victory, the Algerian team continues its journey in the continental tournament, where it will face Nigeria in the quarterfinals, who also qualified after a wide victory over Mozambique with four goals to none.

This encounter represents a new test for the ambitions of the Algerian team to compete for the Africa Cup of Nations title.

It is worth mentioning that the Algeria versus Democratic Republic of Congo match is the third game in the tournament to be decided after extra time, following the matches between Mali and Tunisia, and Egypt and Benin.
