Wednesday 07-01-2026
Italian reports have stated that Turkish club Fenerbahçe has submitted an official offer worth 27 million euros to sign Lazio midfielder Matteo Gündozi during the current winter transfer window, while the Italian club is considering options to compensate for his departure, according to Football Italia.

The recent contact between the two clubs confirmed Fenerbahçe's desire to acquire the player, noting that Lazio will also benefit from an additional 2 million euros in bonuses based on the player's performance, according to transfer analyst Marco Conterio. It is worth mentioning that Gündozi may be open to a move, despite interest from clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Galatasaray, Newcastle, and Sunderland.

Lazio's coach, Maurizio Sarri, is also prepared to let Gündozi go if he can sign a more creative player to occupy his position. The club has already begun examining potential alternatives, most notably Giovanni Fabbian from Bologna, although the Italian club is not pressuring for his sale, in addition to Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Milan and Jacopo Vazzini from Fiorentina.

Lazio's management aims to maintain a balance between preserving the team's strength and continuing to compete in the Italian league, while Gündozi's transfer represents an opportunity for the Turkish club to strengthen its midfield with one of the standout players in his position.
