Al-Ittihad Opens the Way for Bergwijn's Departure in January
Friday 02-01-2026
Al-Ittihad Saudi Club has announced its approval of the departure of Dutch player Steven Bergwijn during the current winter transfer window, with the player receiving attractive offers from several clubs.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Al-Ittihad's management does not oppose Bergwijn's transfer, especially after significant European and Arab interest in acquiring his services this January.

The report indicated that Bergwijn received several serious offers, giving him a wide range of options for a transfer before the winter transfer window closes.

Bergwijn transferred to Al-Ittihad in the summer of 2023 from Dutch club Ajax, signing a three-year contract until 2027, and has been a strong addition to the team since his arrival.

The Dutch player has participated in 43 matches with Al-Ittihad across all competitions since joining, during which he scored 19 goals and provided 9 assists, reflecting his significant impact on the team's performance.

The federation's decision to open the transfer window comes as part of the management's plan to restructure the team, granting Bergwijn the freedom to choose the most suitable destination for his professional career this season.
