3 Reasons Behind the Failure of Hamed Hamdan's Transfer to Al Ahly
Wednesday 31-12-2025
A news report revealed the reasons behind the failure of Palestinian midfielder Hamed Hamdan's transfer from Petrojet to Al Ahly during the upcoming winter transfer window, before he became close to joining Pyramids FC in a deal estimated at around 50 million Egyptian pounds.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, the abundance of players in Al Ahly's midfield, led by Marwan Attia, Aliou Dieng, Ahmed Reda, and Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, has reduced the priority of signing the player. This is in line with the technical vision of Danish coach Jes Thorup, who believes that the position does not require urgent reinforcement.

The newspaper pointed out that Thorup expressed initial enthusiasm about signing Hamed Hamdan, but preferred to wait until the renewal of Aliou Dieng's contract was finalized, considering retaining the Malian player a higher technical priority than signing a new midfielder. Additionally, Al Ahly's slow handling of the negotiations caused them to lose their advantage.

The report added that the financial offer submitted by Pyramids was the highest compared to the offers from Al Ahly and Zamalek, which tipped the scales in favor of the Sky Team to finalize the deal. It is expected that Hamed Hamdan will sign a contract for three and a half years, with an annual salary estimated at around one million dollars.
