Real Madrid Studies Demanding Large Financial Compensation in the Negreira Case
The Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that Real Madrid is considering taking a new legal step as part of its developments in the Negreira case, which involves demanding substantial financial compensation from FC Barcelona for the damages and losses it believes it has suffered due to the payments made by the Catalan club to José María Enríquez Negreira.
The newspaper mentioned that Real Madrid abandoned its negative stance on this issue in recent months and moved to escalate its actions both legally and in the media, amid ongoing disputes between the club president Florentino Pérez and Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
According to the Spanish newspaper, the Royal Club had already submitted official requests to the competent judge, including demands to review several audits and accounts related to Barcelona, as well as a request to access communications between the Catalan club and companies linked to Nikeira, in addition to hearing the testimony of Carles Naval.
The report added that Real Madrid's management is currently considering the possibility of demanding financial compensation amounting to millions of euros, claiming damages suffered by the club due to the repercussions of this case, in a move seen as a new escalation in the ongoing legal dispute.
The newspaper pointed out that Florentino Pérez clearly expressed his position during the club's last general assembly, emphasizing that paying more than 28 million euros to the vice president of the referees' committee over at least eight years is unusual, especially given the influential role he held within the refereeing system, a period that coincided with Barcelona's most successful domestic era.
The report confirmed that Real Madrid continues to apply pressure in the Negreira case, considering it one of the most serious issues in Spanish football, and emphasizing the necessity of not closing the file or ignoring its repercussions.
