Al-Ittihad Fans' Banner Causes Fine After Jeddah Derby
The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation has issued an official decision to impose a substantial financial fine on Al-Ittihad Club, following the events of the Al-Ahli match in the Saudi Roshn League.
The committee imposed a fine of 200,000 riyals on Al-Ittihad Club due to some of its fans bringing in a banner with inappropriate phrases during the match against Al-Ahli held on November 8th.
The Disciplinary Committee clarified in its statement that the penalty also included the decision to hold Al-Ittihad's next match at their home stadium without spectators, with the execution of this penalty suspended for four months.
The committee clarified that the suspension of the penalty will be revoked and the penalty will be applied immediately if any violation of Article 72 of the Disciplinary Regulations is repeated, emphasizing that the fans bear part of the responsibility.
The statement confirmed that the issued decision is not subject to appeal on procedural grounds, based on Article 4 of the Disciplinary and Ethics Regulations approved by the Saudi Football Federation.
The committee added that any new violation during the penalty suspension period will result in the penalty being doubled, in accordance with the provisions of Article (10/2) of the same regulations.
Al-Ittihad Club is preparing to face Al-Shabab next Saturday in the eleventh round of the Saudi Professional League, currently holding seventh place with 14 points after nine rounds.
