Nigerira Case: Real Madrid Demands Review of Barcelona's Accounts and Audits
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that Real Madrid has escalated its legal actions in the Nigerira case, after submitting official requests to the presiding judge, demanding a comprehensive review of the financial accounts and audits of Barcelona during the period from 2010 to 2018.
According to the newspaper, the royal club's moves were based on what former judge Xavi Estrada Fernandez, who participates in the case as a public prosecutor, published, confirming that Real Madrid seeks full access to the economic and tax documents related to the payments transferred to José María Enríquez Nigerira and the companies associated with him.
Real Madrid requested that the judge obligate the major auditing firms to provide forensic audit and inspection reports related to Barcelona's financial management, in addition to digitizing the documents previously submitted by the Catalan club and making them available to all parties involved in the case.
They also demanded access to the internal investigation files conducted by Barcelona through external offices, as well as budgets, internal reports, annual accounts, and minutes of tax meetings related to the payments under investigation.
The report confirmed that Real Madrid's management, headed by Florentino Pérez, is determined to proceed to the end in this case, considering that obtaining all financial documents is a fundamental step to clarify the truth about the payments made during those years, in one of the most controversial cases in the history of Spanish football.
