The Iraqi Football Federation in a Big Dilemma!
The Iraqi Football Federation faces a very big dilemma due to the proposals related to ending the Iraqi Stars League competition in the current season, which has witnessed many fluctuations.
The investment contract signed by the Iraqi Football Federation with the Spanish La Liga Association, to organize the match schedules of the Iraqi Stars League, as well as to focus on the youth categories, has ended.
Sources said: "The Iraqi Federation failed to hold a regular meeting due to the insufficient attendance of members, to discuss several matters related to the current situation of the federation and the mechanism for conducting elections to choose a new executive office, in addition to deliberating on the possibility of finding an appropriate mechanism to end the competitions of the Iraqi Stars League in its current season."
They added: "The executive office of the Iraqi Federation settled on two proposals to end the Iraqi Stars League competitions in the ongoing season: the first proposal involves canceling the current championship results and holding a new league consisting of two groups, each group including 10 clubs, while the second proposal is to compress the league matches to be played at a rate of three matches every three days."
They continued: "These proposals reached the club administrations in the Iraqi Stars League, who expressed their dissatisfaction through statements that filled the Iraqi media over the past two days. Thus, the Iraqi Federation found itself in a big dilemma, as its proposals did not satisfy the league clubs, and at the same time, no one has the courage to confront those clubs."
They added: "The proposal to compress the Iraqi league matches is the most rejected by the clubs, as it will lead to fatigue and many injuries, especially since some matches require travel from the far north of Iraq to its south, causing great exhaustion for the teams. Also, the second proposal to hold the league in two groups will not be satisfactory for the participating clubs."
They went on: "The Iraqi league clubs also do not want the two-groups proposal because they had previously agreed with the professionals to play a full championship consisting of 38 matches. Therefore, the federation is required to bring the points of view closer, which is very difficult, but the federation president Adnan Dirjal will take on the task of convincing the clubs by holding a meeting with their representatives in the capital Baghdad soon."
