The German national team suffered a major blow ahead of the World Cup after young player Lennart Carl sustained a muscle tear in the front thigh during team training in Chicago.

The German national team's medical staff announced that the player will miss the tournament, prompting coach Julian Nagelsmann to call up Assan Ouedraogo from Leipzig to fill in for his absence.

Nagelsmann, the coach of the Mannschaft, said: "I felt great sadness for Lennart, as he is a player characterized by agility, imagination, speed, and a personality that perfectly suited the team. It is very unfortunate that he will miss the World Cup; this is a shock for all of us."

He added, "The only positive aspect is that he is still young and has many upcoming tournaments. We really wanted him to be with us."

He concluded regarding Asan's call-up: "We are getting a highly talented player, similar to Lenny at the start with us, and we expect him to play with courage and freedom on the field."

These changes come at a crucial time before the start of the World Cup, as the German national team aims to go far in the tournament, which is scheduled to begin on June 11.
