Conceição Surprises Al-Ittihad Players Before Nasaf Test
Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição, head coach of the Saudi club Al-Ittihad, made a notable decision to give the team players a mental break from group training sessions ahead of the upcoming continental challenge.
The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" revealed that Conceição's decision came after Al-Ittihad players underwent intensive training sessions twice daily, in the morning and evening, over the past few days.
The newspaper explained that the coaching staff preferred to give the players a rest today, and the team will resume its preparations starting tomorrow, Saturday, in anticipation of the upcoming Asian match.
Al-Ittihad Club is preparing to face Uzbekistan's Nasaf in the sixth round of the AFC Champions League Elite, in a match scheduled to take place next Tuesday.
Al-Ittihad occupies seventh place in Group B of the AFC Champions League Elite with 7 points, and is also seventh in the Roshn Saudi League standings with 14 points.
Al-Ittihad will be without Algerian player Houssam Aouar and Malian player Mahamoudou Doumbia, as they have joined their national teams in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which kicks off next Sunday in Morocco.
