Christensen Continues to Strive to Stay at Barcelona
Thursday 18-12-2025
Andreas Christensen is living through a decisive season with Barcelona, as his contract expires in June 2026. The Danish player is keen to seize every opportunity to prove he can continue with the team, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport."

The newspaper explained that Christensen is among the players with the least playing time this season, having played 515 minutes across all competitions. This is due to Gerard Marten's shift to the center-back position and Eric Garcia's move to a defensive midfield role, which has reduced his chances of being a starter.

Nevertheless, Christensen delivered an outstanding performance in the Round of 32 King's Cup match against Guadalajara, where he was one of the team's best players and scored the goal that paved the way for Barcelona's victory and advancement to the next round.

The newspaper confirmed that the player's desire to remain with teams competing at the highest level is strong, focusing on the Spanish or Italian leagues, after having previously played with Chelsea in England, despite receiving offers from Saudi Arabia.

Christensen is completing his fourth season with Barcelona this year after joining on a free transfer in 2022. He has had memorable moments but has not established himself as an indispensable starter, remaining an important and reliable backup option.

The newspaper pointed out that the player's future will be determined based on his upcoming playing opportunities under the leadership of Hans Flick. A good level of performance could open the door for contract renewal, noting that his salary will not be at the same level as his previous contract when he joined the club at a younger age.

The report confirmed that the coming months will be decisive for Christensen, as his performance and the chances given to him will determine the possibility of renewing his contract with Barcelona or seeking a new experience.
