Manchester United Finalizes Its Position on Kobbie Mainoo's Departure
Monday 15-12-2025
The website "CaughtOffside" confirmed that Manchester United's head coach, Rúben Amorim, intends to prevent English midfielder Kobbie Mainoo from leaving Old Trafford on loan during the January winter transfer window, despite the player's growing frustration and interest from Napoli and Chelsea.

The website pointed out that Napoli, the Italian league champion, considers Mainoo their primary target to strengthen the midfield in the second half of the season, with personal support from coach Antonio Conte to complete the loan deal. He believes the player's energy, ability to control the game, and technical vision could make him a key element in the team's system.

Despite potential offers, the same source confirms that Amorim refuses to let go of Mainoo, considering him to remain an important player in Manchester United's midfield, especially with key players like Diallo and Brian Mbeumo absent during the Africa Cup of Nations period, making squad depth crucial.

The website added that Mainoo, who was considered one of the brightest talents in the club's academy, has been getting limited playing time this season due to the midfield being crowded with experienced players. He had previously wanted to go out on loan last summer to increase his chances of development and keep his hopes alive of joining the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The website reported that Napoli is ready to offer a direct loan deal covering Mainoo's full salary and guaranteeing him regular playing time under Conte's leadership, taking advantage of the good relationship between the Italian club and Manchester United following previous deals. However, Amorim's position remains unchanged.

The head coach plans to have direct talks with the player in the coming days to reassure him about his role in the club's long-term project, even amid limited short-term opportunities this season.
