Milan Opens Negotiations with Liverpool Goalkeeper in Anticipation of Maignan's Departure
Wednesday 10-12-2025
Italian club AC Milan continues its efforts to secure a potential replacement for their goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is approaching the final months of his contract with the Rossoneri, set to expire in the summer of 2026. According to the website "Football Italia," Milan has already begun communication with the camp of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker, the current Liverpool keeper, who is seen as an ideal option to cover any possible departure of Maignan.

Milan signed Maignan from Lille in 2021 for 15 million euros. The club has been trying to extend Maignan's contract for several months, but negotiations have failed to reach an agreement due to a significant gap between the player's demands and the club's offer regarding his salary.

Milan faces the possibility of Maignan leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, amid interest from major clubs such as Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain in acquiring his services. Therefore, the Italian club is looking to secure the signing of Alisson before the summer to ensure stability in the goalkeeper position.

Alisson has previous experience in the Italian league, having played two seasons with Roma between 2016 and 2018, before moving to Liverpool for 72.5 million euros. Milan hopes to be able to finalize the deal easily, especially since the English club has already signed Alisson's replacement, Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Alisson is 33 years old, and his contract with Liverpool runs until 2027, which makes Milan's management confident that the English club will not demand an excessive fee for his potential transfer.
