Before facing Sporting Lisbon in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League, Vincent Kompany, the Bayern Munich coach, made a series of statements during the press conference for the match, confirming his team's readiness and the difficulty of the upcoming encounter.

Kompany spoke about the qualification calculations: "Statistics say that five wins and a draw might be enough, but I don't like to think that way. We play tomorrow at our home stadium, and we have two of the last three matches at home. We are very close to qualifying, and the situation is good."

The Bayern coach continued about Díaz: "Luis Díaz has played all matches with us and the national team, and he travels a lot. He didn’t get a Christmas break during his time in England. It makes sense for him to get some rest to return mentally perfect. The players work daily and have individual programs even at home."

Regarding the rotation principle, Kompany confirmed: "It’s always related to performance or the opponent. I trust all players. When we win, everyone talks about the lineup, and that's normal. We have internal competition, and I like that."

Concerning Manuel Neuer’s participation, he explained: "If things go as expected, Neuer will be present tomorrow. Jonas Odriozola performed excellently against Stuttgart and will get his chance. We have four matches in 11 days, which suits Manuel. We are working on choosing the right time to involve Jonas."

He spoke about Sporting technically, saying: "They are a strong technical team with fast offensive play, and they have midfielders and defenders who play well with the ball. It’s the Champions League, and our goal is to deliver the highest possible level."
