Barcelona is preparing to face Eintracht Frankfurt in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage, in a match where both teams aim to regain balance after their recent 3-0 defeats in the previous round, at Camp Nou stadium.

Barcelona and Frankfurt previously met in the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, where the first leg in Frankfurt ended in a 1-1 draw, before Frankfurt also won 3-2 in the second leg in Spain.

Barcelona holds a strong home record against German teams, having won 16 of their last 20 encounters, although they lost 3-1 to Dortmund in the last away match, within their last 11 matches against Bundesliga teams.

As for Frankfurt, they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the second round of this season’s Champions League.

Barcelona is competing in their 30th Champions League season, a record they share with Real Madrid, and have participated in every season since 2003/2004. Last season, they finished second in the group stage and reached the semi-finals after victories over Benfica and Dortmund, before losing to Inter with an aggregate score of 7-6.

Frankfurt has participated in the Champions League only once before this season, in 2022/2023, reaching the round of 16 as Europa League champions, but lost in the quarter-finals last season to Tottenham.

Barcelona suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in their last match and has won only two of their last eight Champions League matches, while winning eight of their last 12 group stage games.

Barcelona’s last 21 Champions League matches have seen 99 goals scored, averaging 4.7 goals per game, and Robert Lewandowski has scored 16 goals in 24 matches against Frankfurt during his career with Dortmund and Bayern Munich. He could become only the fourth player to score in 15 or more Champions League seasons if he scores this season.

As for Frankfurt, they lost 3-0 to Atalanta in the fifth round, have won only one of their last seven European matches, and have failed to win in their last four games.
